Administrative Responsibility
All employees are responsible for administering this policy.
The Library Director is responsible for maintaining and amending the procedures under this policy. Please refer to “Internet Service and Usage Procedure” document for related procedures.
Definitions
Service means the internet access and computer equipment provided by the Library for use by patrons in the Library facility.
Policy
- To provide the service, the Library shall make computer equipment and internet connectivity available to patrons.
- Internet information resources accessed through the service shall be considered as an extension of the material collections.
- A patron is not required to be a Library member to access the service.
- Use of the service by patrons shall be provided pursuant to the Internet Access Procedure.
- A patron shall not use the service:

- to access sites or transmit materials which violate any federal or provincial law or municipal bylaw, or
- for financial gain or commercial activity.
- The Library may impose rules limiting or prohibiting use of the service to view, display, downloading, printing or transmitting of certain types of content.
- The Library shall not be held responsible or liable for:

- the content or quality of information retrieved using the service
- information that may be lost, damaged or unavailable due to technical or other difficulties with the service
- damages resulting from use of the service
- fees incurred by use of the service, or
- any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damages sustained or incurred in connection with the use of or inability to use the service.
- The Library does not guarantee:

- that internet content accessed using the service is not offensive, unreliable or outdated
- the security and confidentiality of any transaction made using the service
- that the service will be uninterrupted, or
- that the service will meet any specific requirements of users.
